Syllabus: Bihar State Judicial Services

  1. Phase 1 – Prelims examination is of objective type.
  2. Phase 2 – Mains exam is of written type.
  3. Phase 3 – Interview

PHASE 1 – PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION

The preliminary examination shall be an objective type examination. The syllabus for the preliminary examination is as follows –

1. General Knowledge (100 Marks)

2. Law(150 Marks)

  1. General Knowledge including Current Affairs
  2. Law of Transfer of Property
  3. Principles of Equity
  4. Law of Trusts
  5. Specific Relief Act
  6. Law of Contracts
  7. Law of Torts
  8. Elementary General Science
  9. Law of Evidence and Procedure
  10. Constitutional and Administrative law of India
  11. Hindu law & Mohammedan Law
  12. Commercial Law

PHASE 2 – MAINS EXAMINATION

The Mains Examination shall be comprise of Compulsory Paper and Optional Paper as follows :

1. COMPULSORY PAPER

Note:Out of 5 (five) topics mentioned below under Compulsory Paper, a candidate can opt 3 (three) topics and he/she is required to appear in only 3 (three) topics.

The topics are as follows –

  1. General Knowledge including Current Affairs (150 Marks)
  2. Elementary General Science (100 Marks)
  3. General Hindi (100 Marks)
  4. General English (100 Marks)
  5. Law of Evidence and Procedure (150 Marks)

2. OPTIONAL PAPER

The following subjects are included in the Optional Paper –

  1. Constitutional and Administrative law of India(150 Marks)
  2. Hindu law & Mohammedan Law (150 Marks)
  3. Transfer of Property Act, Principles of Equity,Law of Trusts and Specific Relief (150 Marks)
  4. Law of Contracts and Torts (150 Marks)
  5. Commercial Law (150 Marks)

PHASE 3 – INTERVIEW (100 Marks)
